PETALING JAYA: Kelantan were dislodged as Super League leaders after surprisingly going down 2-1 to PKNS FC at the Sultan Mohd IV Stadium.
The Red Warriors, who won their opening two matches, started off well last night and grabbed the lead through Ahmad Fakri Saarani in the 30th minute. PKNS, however, scored two quick goals to send the home side down to fourth place.
Mohd Fauzan Dzukifli equalised in the 40th minute and a minute later Mohd Aminuddin Mohd Noor secured the winning goal.
Selangor replaced Kelantan as leaders after edging Malaysia Cup champions Pahang 1-0 earlier in the day.
At the Larkin Stadium, defending champions Lions XII bounced back from a two-goal deficit to hold fancied Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) to a 2-2 draw.
JDT looked headed for their second win of the season when their expensive Argentinian signings Luciano Figueroa and Pablo Aimar gave them the lead with spectacular goals in the 28th and 42nd minutes respectively.
But the Lions staged a dramatic fightback with two quick kills through Khairul Amri and Hafiz Sujad in a two-minute spell in the 67th and 69th minutes.
While there was no joy for Figueroa and Aimar, compatriot Juan Arostegui was smiling from ear to ear.
Firing blanks in his first two matches, Arostegui turned hero for Armed Forces when he scored the winning goal in Armed Forces’ 1-0 win over Perak at the Selayang Stadium.
Sarawak also had a memorable night. The Crocs registered their win in the top flight to lift themselves from the bottom to eighth in the 12-team standings.
Joseph Kallang Tie was the hero for Sarawak at the State Stadium in Kuching. He scored a brace in the 3-0 win over Sime Darby FC.
Joseph scored in the 11th and 67th minutes while Gabor Gyepes contributed the other goal in the 44th minute.
T-Team, who stunned JDT 1-0 last week, dropped to the bottom of the league after losing 2-0 to Terengganu at the Sultan Ismail Stadium in Kuala Terengganu.
Terengganu took the lead in the 45th minute through Brazilian striker Marcio Souza. Ashari Samsudin added the second in the 58th minute.
