Father goes berserk and attacks kids

BANGI - A seven-year-old girl was allegedly murdered by her father while two of her sisters were severely injured at their house in Bandar Baru Bangi.
The man's 15-year-old daughter came home at about 4.15pm yesterday to find two of her siblings injured in the living room while the father was holding a blood-stained parang.
She quickly ran upstairs and called the police. Seeing this, the father fled.
Police arrived to discover the little girl dead in a back room on the ground floor of the house.
"Her neck was severely slashed. She had died by the time we arrived," Selangor deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Abdul Rahim Jaafar told reporters at the scene.
Police rushed the two other girls, aged 10 and 12, to the Kajang Hospital. One lost a finger while the other had slash wounds on her neck. The more seriously injured girl was then sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital.
Police tracked down the 44-year-old father to a river some 300m away at about 6.30pm.
"He had wounds on his arm as we believe he had jumped into the river to escape," DCP Abdul Rahim said.
The man was sent to the Kajang Hospital for treatment before he was remanded. He has two other children - boys aged 17 and 18.
The 42-year-old mother, who was working at the time of the incident, rushed to the Kajang Hospital with her other children to see the girls.
DCP Abdul Rahim said: "Initial investigations revealed that the man had been suffering from depression.
He had been working as a car wireman but lost his job about two months ago."
