5 Suspected Gang Members Arrested Trying To Cross Into Thailand.

BUKIT KAYU HITAM: Kedah police had nabbed five suspected members of underworld gangs who tried to cross the Malaysian border to Thailand yesterday.

The suspects, aged between 24 and 41, were detained under “Ops Cantas” at the Bukit Kayu Hitam Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) complex here when they tried to cross the border to Danok.

State police chief Datuk Ahmad Ibrahim said the first suspect was caught at 3.10pm while the other four were nabbed separately about 30 minutes later.

Ahmad said police had stepped-up checks at the border to prevent suspected triad gang members from leaving the country.

“We are closely monitoring suspicious individuals and the main target are those with body tattoos that represent the underworld societies banned by the government," he told Pressmen while inspecting a road-block at Km 7.3 of the North-South Expressway here today.

Ahmad said police would continue to hunt down underworld gang members under the ongoing nationwide 'Ops Cantas Khas'.
