Girl believed to have been sexually enslaved
GEORGE TOWN: A 14-year-old girl is believed to have been sexually enslaved for three years by her father.
The alleged abuse came to light when the girl told her classmate that she wanted to end her life as she could no longer endure the sexual abuse.
Fearing for her friend, the classmate related the matter to a counselling teacher who then informed the victim’s mother.
After a discussion, they lodged a police report on Monday, the same day the victim confessed to her classmate.
Police have detained the 41-year-old suspect, a van driver.
An initial probe revealed that the suspect could have been sexually assaulting his daughter at home since 2011.
It is learnt that the girl kept the incidents secret for fear of being beaten up by her father.
Penang Deputy CID chief Asst Comm Nasir Salleh said the suspect had been remanded to help investigations.
