LIN DAN BEATS LEE CHONG WEI TO WIN HIS 5TH WORLD BADMINTON CHAMPIONSHIP

Lin Dan won his 5th World  Badminton Championship title by beating Datuk Lee Chong Wei in the final of  the World Badminton Championship in Guangzhou, China with a score of 16-21, 21-13 and 20-17 (Retired). Lin Dan cemented his position as the best badminton player in history, winning the Championship as wildcard entry.

Lin Dan came back with 5 points in a row mid in the rubber game when it was thought Chong Wei was gonna run away with it in the rubber game.

Late in the rubber game Lee Chong Wei had to retire due to an injury and severe cramps giving Lin Dan the win and the title.


Lee Chong Wei suffered cramps in the third set with the score at 17-20 and had to abandon the match, handing the world title to Lin Dan again at the World Badminton Championship here.
Lee Chong Wei won the first set 21-16, lost the second set 13-21, and lost the rubber 17-20 (retired). He retired after suffering cramps and was taken for medical treatment on a stretcher. Initial reports is quadricep cramp. 
However controversy surrounds the final as it was later learnt that the air conditioning at the venue was turned off during the second set of the final after Lee Chong Wei soundly beat Lin Dan in the first set.
